On the 21st of June 2018 the Public Service Excellence Program for the Government of Tonga was launched by the Prime Minister of Tonga Hon. Samuela ‘Akilisi Pohiva.
This program is a 5 year plan that involves an annual conference of the Ministries in Tonga coming together to share where they are in regards to Leadership; Strategy; Citizens and Customers; Measurement, Analysis and Knowledge Management; Workforce; and Operations.
For this program each Ministry in Tonga participated in setting up booths to raise public awareness for their respective fields at the Queen Salote Memorial Hall in Nuku’alofa. Vika ‘Akauola (Family Protection Advocate) joined the Ministry of Justice booth on behalf of the Family Protection Legal Aid Centre.
This program was a very effective method of raising awareness for the Family Protection Legal Aid Centre as Vika was able to talk to students as well as civil servants. People approached her asking questions regarding the Family Protection Act 2013 and other related law matters. They also inquired regarding the services the Centre provides.
